Does incense clean the air in a room and is it good for you?

I've currently got incense burning and I'm wondering what exactly it's doing for me! Also, what would be a good way of cleaning out the air of a room? How about scented candles, how are they different to incense?

1. I like to burn incense occasionally just because I like the smell. It does not clean the air and tests have shown that some incense is carcinogenic so use in moderation. It's good for changing smell/feeling in room - can get rid of unpleasant odours and can make room feel more restful.
2. Hello... Well, it's pretty much smoke and any smoke is bad for your lungs. I am a Massage Therapist and I used to use Incense a lot, really loved it but It started giving me a scratchy throat after each session and then I found out it causes lung damage because of cancer causing chemicals in them so I switched to an oil burner which I recommend you doing because the aromas they sale for them are incredible (way better than incense) and you don't have to burn it for long. Incense are used to purify the air in ceremonies but i do not agree intirely with that. I do however believe that aromas can set the mind at certain moods. You should give candles a try as well... 3. No it doesn't clean the air. It produces smoke like cigarettes and is bad for your lungs too. It creates soot that eventually clings to your walls and flooring as well. The best way to clean the air in a room is with an air purifier. Alpine air purifiers are great and so are EdenPure. Oreck makes one too.
4. Air purifiers are probably the best for cleaning the air, but have you ever heard of "febreeze" or "oust". They both have a clean smell and they don't just cover up the odors, they freshen the air and take odors out of fabrics.
5. No incense do not clean the air? They offer a cent for your nose to smell. Although they have not been proven harmful, I dont see them offering any health benefit
